FAQ
How far in advance do I need to place my order?+
Orders for Friday pickup close every Tuesday at noon. If you miss that window, the next opportunity is the following Tuesday. Subscription customers are reserved automatically each week and do not need to reorder, but variety changes require 72 hours' notice.
Can I pay by credit card, or is cash required?+
Bank transfer (furikomi) is accepted before Thursday for single-loaf orders. At pickup, cash and PayPay are both fine. Credit cards are not currently accepted at the counter. Subscription billing is handled monthly via bank transfer.
Is there parking near the bakery?+
There is no dedicated parking at the Chikusa location. The nearest coin parking is about a two-minute walk on Higashiyama-dori. Most customers arrive by bicycle or on foot, or use the Higashiyama subway line and walk five minutes from Chikusa station.
Do any of the loaves contain allergens I should know about?+
All loaves contain gluten. The Autumn Chestnut and Sesame loaf contains sesame. The house cultured butter contains dairy. The kitchen handles no nuts other than chestnut flour, and there are no eggs in any of the bread. If you have a specific allergy concern, please contact us before ordering.
Can I cancel or change my single-loaf reservation?+
Cancellations are accepted up to Wednesday noon for that week's Friday bake. After that point the dough has already been shaped and the reservation cannot be refunded. Changes to variety are treated the same way: Wednesday noon is the cutoff.
How should I store the bread and how long does it keep?+
Wrap the loaf in a clean cotton cloth or the paper bag it comes in and keep it at room temperature. The country loaf and seasonal varieties are best within three days. The rye and malt loaf keeps well for up to five days. Sliced bread freezes well; thaw at room temperature or toast directly from frozen.
